Google User Data

Our application uses Google OAuth to allow Users to connect their Google accounts for the purpose of managing Google Tag Manager containers and Google Analytics properties. When a User authorizes our application, we request access to the following Google API scopes:

  • Google Tag Manager - Edit Containers (tagmanager.edit.containers): To create, read, and modify Tag Manager containers, tags, triggers, and variables on behalf of the User.
  • Google Tag Manager - Manage Accounts (tagmanager.manage.accounts): To list and manage Tag Manager accounts the User has access to.
  • Google Tag Manager - Publish (tagmanager.publish): To publish Tag Manager container versions on behalf of the User.
  • Google Analytics - Edit (analytics.edit): To configure Google Analytics properties and settings for server-side tagging integration.
  • Google Analytics - Read Only (analytics.readonly): To read Google Analytics configuration data needed for server-side tagging setup.

How We Use Google User Data

Google user data obtained through these scopes is used solely to provide the server-side tagging services requested by the User. Specifically, we use this data to:

  • List the User's Google Tag Manager accounts and containers so they can select which containers to manage.
  • Automatically configure server-side tagging containers, tags, triggers, and variables within Google Tag Manager.
  • Publish container versions to activate server-side tagging configurations.
  • Read Google Analytics property information to integrate with server-side tagging.

We do not use Google user data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the server-side tagging services provided by SprTags.

Google User Data Retention

We store Google OAuth access tokens and refresh tokens securely in our database in encrypted form. These tokens are retained for as long as the User's account remains active and the Google account connection is maintained. We do not store the contents of Google Tag Manager containers or Google Analytics data on our servers beyond what is necessary to complete the immediate API request.

Google User Data Deletion

Users may disconnect their Google account at any time from within their account settings. Upon disconnection, the stored OAuth tokens (access token and refresh token) are immediately deactivated. When a User deletes their SprTags account, all associated Google OAuth credentials are permanently deleted from our systems. Users may also revoke access at any time through their Google Account permissions page.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

SprTags has the discretion to update this privacy policy at any time. When we do, we will revise the updated date at the bottom of this page. We encourage Users to frequently check this page for any changes to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personal information we collect.
